Righting a daysailer

Has anyone tried shroud extenders on a daysailer. I've used them on a Hobie 16 and they worked well righting the boat.

A shroud extender allows you to release a shroud and extend it about 12". This drops the mast and sail downward in the water. When you start to right the boat, you are not lifting the mast and sail until you are part way up.
