I am looking at a 1977 Daysailer 2. I found the boat through Boat Trader Online. It's location is in Michigan and I am in Ohio. The seller represents the boat to be in great sailing shape complete with all rigging, main, jib and trailer. He is asking $1700. Considering the age of the boat and the fact that it is a Daysailer 2 instead of a Daysailer 1 this seems to be a little steep to me. What do you think. Please let me know as I am quite new to the boating game.

Depends on the condition of the boat AND trailer. If they're both in good condition and the sails are in good condition, it doesn't sound too far off.

Where in Ohio are you? Here in Columbus that is about the going rate for a good one.
