Where is Everyone sailing Memorial Day Weekend?

Postby kellyima » Tue May 22, 2007 5:58 pm

Anyone want to share whether they're going sailing, where to, what they're bringing, and whether they're trying out any new equipment.

My boat is still not in the water, and this will give me a chance to sail vicariously. LOL

You can come sail vicariously with me.

I MIGHT go down to Eugene to play with the Big Boys (and Girls) but that is an 8+ hour drive for a couple of days. If the weather forecast looks terrific for sailing I might convince myself to go. Family gave me permission.

If not, I'll stay around here and do some serious sailing on my regular lake (Lake Coeur d'Alene, Idaho) and do some day trips to Lake Pend Oreille, Priest Lake, and maybe some other places in Northeastern Washington and North Idaho.

Besides having my DS to lug around, I've got my newly-acquired San Juan 21 that is a blast to sail, so I've got two options for getting out and about this weekend. Maybe I can get some pics. That'll whet your appetite, vicariously speaking.

Barn Island Launch, Stonington CT. Sailing on little Naragansett Bay. If there's a better place to be on a nice day I'm not aware of it!!

Our Fleet has a team racing in our club's Lukemia Cup Regatta, 24 hour endurance race, here on O'Shaugnessy res. in Columbus Ohio. A DS will be sailing for 24 hours straight. We will be switching out crew ever 2 hours, although we all have more than one shift.

I'm headed to Morro Bay or Lopez Lake near San Luis Obispo on the central CA coast.

I'll be dreaming of sailing while I am finishing the prep on my hull. All inside my barn in lovely South Jersey. Someone enjoy a nice broad reach for me!

It's supposed to be pretty windy through the weekend down here, but fortunately my jiffy reefing kit is due in tomorrow's UPS!

So, if the installation goes as quickly and easily as they say it does, I may well get a chance to try it out at Lakes Dias or Monroe on Saturday or Sunday ... 8)

It will be windy in Northern Illinois, but I hope to get out on Diamond Lake, Mundelein, IL.
If the weather is perfect, Lake Michigan in Winthrop Harbor, IL.
Is anybody joining?
