Sailing Chesapeake region

I'm planning on taking my DS out to the Chesapeake (N Virgina/Southern MD) this summer to do a week of daysail/cruising/camping. Has anyone done this? Any suggestions on must see places? Marinas?

How about Saint Michaels?
Will you be in that area? Its a nice town lots of little stores. Lots of seafood restaurants. A museum about the bay and sailing etc.
I used to take my cruiser down the Delaware, thru the C&D canal
down the bay and spend a night at St Michaels. It was always fun.

Thanks St. Michaels sounds nice but I was thinking further South. Although the more info I gather I'm not sure the whole idea is feasible unless you have a boat you can sleep in. There seems to be many well protected places to anchor but I'm not so sure on the camping unless you can beach your boat. My thought was to leave my truck/trailer somewhere and cover a hundred miles. I kind of wanted to stay away from expensive marinas but I'd duck into a moderate priced hotel for a few day here and there. I think the eastern shore would be cooler but more expensive with less places to camp. need to do some more research. Thanks
