Winter wearing

Postby focacube » Wed Sep 29, 2010 4:56 pm

as usual sorry for my bad english, I am from Italy
This year I would like to sail also in winter season and I was wondering which kind of sailing clothes are to be used on a Daysailer... it is not a very wet dinghy but neither a dry big boat: it would be better an oilskins or a neoprene wet suit
Thanks for your suggestions

Here in the Pacific Northwest of the United States (Oregon to be precise) I like to wear a dry-suit over a full body polar fleece jumpsuit (aka a "bunny suit") for winter sailing and kayaking. It is probably colder here than in Italy, so you might find it overkill, but there are two things to keep in mind when dressing for winter water sports:

1. Always assume you may end up in the water at some point; and

2. Dress for the water temperature, not the air temperature.

My 2-cents. Enjoy the winter sailing!
