On the Texas 200 in June (six days of sailing) I sailed most of the week in 20 plus knot winds with waves up to 7 or 8 feet in the middle of the bays. My speed was 6 - 8 mph (according to the GPS) most of the time. The main was double reefed the whole time and we stopped using the jib after the third day due to high winds. Our top speed recorded was 11.2 mph. Even tho the wind was gusting to 35 knots we didn't capsize as the chart shows. Good thing I didn't see the chart ahead of time.
