Planing

Postby Interim » Wed Sep 03, 2014 10:08 am

We had our DSII out in decent wind with our new boom vang for the first time last weekend, and WOW, is planing fun.

As we fell off into a broad reach, it jumped, and all of a sudden we had a roaring wake trailing behind us. Making no effort at all to plane, this happened several times during the day.

Wind was about12mph, with gusts to 21 recorded. However, we weren't necessarily getting up on the gusts. Just the steady wind. Also, we had the centerboard all the way down and the moveable ballast randomly distributed.

I put this under misc instead of boat handling because there isn't really a technical issue. Just excited it happened.
