Mast step moved to top of cuddy?

Postby cgeckert » Wed Jun 29, 2022 10:03 pm

Hi,
I am very new to the O'Day daysailer and this forum. I'm thinking of investing in a boat and there's a possibility not too far away from where i live.
However in one of the pictures sent by the seller, it looks like the mast step has been moved to the top of the cuddy.
I have not heard of this mod. Is it a problem?
Thank you for any help you can send my way.
chris

Many DaySailers have desk-stepped masts. Some out of the factory as an option, some aftermarket. Nothing unusual, except for the particular design of the mast step which seems to have been designed to be extra strong. (Make sure there's a post below to act as compression post. If missing, add your own. Practically anything works for that purpose, even a 2x4, so not a reason to walk away from that boat if you like it otherwise).
