Hanging out on a DSII

Postby Guest » Wed Mar 31, 2004 10:28 pm

In looking around this site I have picked up a lot of very useful information and for that I thank all of you who use this forum to inform others by responding to questions and comments.
I have noticed photos of day sailers under sail with crew hanging out on wire. As an X-hobie sailor, I would like more information.
Where on the mast do you attach the wire? What guage is the wire? Is the wire a stock item or improvised and if so, any tips on length.

Trapeze are not class legal and probably for good reason. The stock DS mast was never intended to take the stress of hiking out on a trapeze. If you still want to try it, attach the trapeze wires to the mast at the point where the shrouds are attached (the hound). good luck.

You know, I didn't thing the mast was beefy enough to take the stress. I know my hobie mast was a lot stronger.
This is not something I care to attempt on the Day sailor.
thanks for the input Roger.
