Owners Manual

Postby Guest » Fri Oct 16, 1998 12:00 am

Does anyone have an owners manual for a DS II, I would pay for even a copy of this if it has rigging and general familiarity with the boat. Thanks

My 1980, OÆDay Day Sailer IIÆs ômanualö is really a pamphlet on basic, generic sailboat handling. Almost any small sailboat primer you find in the library will be better.

There is a separate sheet that does show a line drawing of the basic rigging. You may learn as much from photos of the boat. Depending on the year, the mainsheet rigging could either be mid-boom like my 1980 model or sheeted from the rear (line) traveller like #5702 and many DS IÆs.

The National DS site may offer help. <A HREF='http://forum.daysailer.org'>http://forum.daysailer.org</A>

Check the following.<UL><LI><A HREF='http://members.tripod.com/~daysailers_colorado/tuningguide.html'>http://members.tripod.com/~daysailers_colorado/tuningguide.html</A></LI><LI><A HREF='http://forum.daysailer.org/dsq_tbleframeset.htm'>http://forum.daysailer.org/dsq_tbleframeset.htm</A></LI></UL>Give me an email if you want a photocopy of the 1980 DS II line drawing.

I think I have the same basic sailing manual. I got my 1972 DS II second-hand (more likely third or fourth!) and the only O'Day published info it came with is a 40 page book called "Have Fun Learning to Sail". It also contains the rigging line drawing like John describes. I was thinking that the manual was simply lost but maybe this book was all there is.

Hopefully the web will someday contain enough Day Sailer info to make a real manual unnecessary.

I thought that I already posted this, but.......I have the original owners manual from my 1979 DS II, it is really just a 2-sided 11" x 17" page, but it does show the basic layout and rigging of the Day Sailer II and on the back is a lot of usefull info and directions. If anyone would like a copy, send me a direct e-mail at: rjohnson24@juno.com include a mailing address, please!
