I bought at West Marine a telescoping extension with a "quick release" uh, release, and a ball-type handle. I can't remember the name of it, but it was about $70.
The quick release sleeve requires you drill a hole into the end of the tiller, and then secured with two wood screws. Then a plunger fits down into that sleeve to hold the extention securely in place. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the tiller was exactly the depth it needed to be for the sleeve and plunger to work properly.
It adjusts from I want to say roughly 20" to 30"?
You'll see others there with rubber attachment joints, but I think the added flexibility and removability of the one I got is worth the extra money.
