DSII

O'Day Daysailer II, class #5700, "The Daysteeler" sails mostly in and around north central Kentucky. I'm guessing from the existent list, that is was built in either 1972 or 1973. It's hull number is #3035.

I spent the winter and spring bringing DS 1 Hull Number 1804 Class 100 back to life....she is a beauty once again and ready to sail....

Naming her "Little Dipper"

Plan on trailering throughout New England from West Newbury, MA

Plate mounted on the coming says:

I have a feeling the following listing shows a miss reading of the Hull# and Class# of a pre-1973 boat? If it is the actual CLASS# (although it look way high!) it would be a Cape Cod Shipbuilding boat, since they start with Class# 14201. However, I suspect this boat is an older O'DAY built DS I and 17326 is the O'DAY HULL# not the Class/Sail#. O'Day boats built prior to the 1973 model year have 2 numbers stamped on a metal plate (located on hte forward flotation tank in hte DS I and on hte inside of the transom of the DS II), there is a HULL# which refers to how many total boats O'DAY had built (all models) and the Class# refers to how many of that class (ie: Day Sailer) had been built.
As a reference, I used to have a 1969 O'DAY Widgeon and she was Hull# 22698. Class# 1791. That means she was the 22698th O'DAY built and the 1791st Widgeon. Confusion reigns amoungst these numbers though.....because they don't always add up! O'DAY built boats in more than one location and for some reason 2 boats may not show the same difference in Hull#s as they do in Class#s.

My guess, could be wrong.
