WOW! And I thought "extreme sailing" was something new! 350 different lines! Sails that weigh in tons! No machines, not even winches! All work hand-done! Hazardous conditions - both aloft and on deck! Every manner of task to be had. Reminds me of Two Years Before the Mast, by RH Dana. On top of it a dog that would nip at your ankles if you weren't keeping up with the job!
That captain had done Cape Horn fifty-six times by then, small wonder he was held in such high esteem.
Makes sailing our craft feel like simplicity itself. But, boy, do I admire their skill and spirit...
