Yes, that's correct. The scuppers stick out into the cockpit. I'm not actually sure what happens to the ball when the cockpit floods - I assume it is forced into the hole, keeping water from flowing through the hole into the cuddy. But if the cuddy gets water, the ball moves away from the hole and lets the water drain into the cockpit and down to the self bailer.

My boat is moored about 30 minutes from home, or I'd get a few pics. If my boat didn't have them, I can't really say that I'd be anxious to add them - they look sort of clunky, but I suppose they work as intended.

I'll have to try to dunk a rail next time I'm out to test out the set up. Or not.

I would seriously think about a "cat-dor", something like large hole with flap, in each lower corner. The flap not so much to act as a valve, but to keep rain, dust, insects etc. out.

And of course to let the cat in and out...

O'DAY did offer cushions for the inside of the cuddy of the DS II for a while!
Not the best picture, but here is a pic from the 1976 brochure showing the optional cushions, they were cut to fit around the mast and seem to have covered the CB upline.

That's interesting. Guess they weren't too popular. I'm a big man and I've determined I could get into my cuddy cabin, just not sure I could get back out.

Well, I'm about 5'10" and would need to bend my legs a bit to fit. Plus, sleeping in the DS II cuddy would give new meaning to the phrase "Crawling into bed"! At least, unlike the small tents I slept in as a Boy Scout, the cuddy won't collapse on top of you while sleeping! I think my fellow scouts might have "helped" my tent to partly fall down some nights?
