Installing a mast hinge

Postby Guest » Wed Aug 12, 1998 12:00 am

Still working on my DS1 and have another question. After stepping my mast(keel-stepped) and nearly causing permanent damage to all sorts of things, I have decided to install a mast hinge. I have emailed the folks at Dwyer (great people and great service) and expect to have the parts next week. My question is one of dimensions. Where do I cut the mast to install the hinge. I have all the tools to do the job, just need to know where to cut the stick in relation to the step casting.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Look at the message "Mast Hinge Installation" in this category (Repair and Improvement) for instructions on 'installing a mast hinge'. It really doesn't matter where you cut the mast as long as the mast is supported by the lower mast section and not the cuddy cabin top.
