Where to buy sail bags?

Postby fatjackdurham » Mon Aug 21, 2017 2:02 pm

You know, I am having trouble finding a simple sail bag for my new main sail. They sent a long boom bag for when the sail is wrapped around the boom, but I want a small bag for when it's folded. Any ideas?

I roll my sails. Sailmaker strongly advised it.

I store my mainsail bent on the boom and rolled up along with my jib (also rolled up) all inside my boom bag. Strap the whole thing to a thwart seat and call it good
A crappy day sailing is better than a good one at home...

Thwart seat requires a DS1...

Pretty much what I do, but as I keep a tarp on the boat, I don't bag the main any more during the season.

I bag it for off-season storage (off the boom, but rolled)

I see, so rolling the sail would be the wisest thing to do. Thanks, GreenLake!

So the sails I bought this year (intensity) came with a long bag for rolling them. Am I to be rolling the sails onto the boom then sliding the whole thing into the bag? Or are we discussing about a different type of bag? I've just been rolling them without the boom.

You can bag your sail with or without the boom. But you would roll it in either case.

Thanks! It's clear to me now.
Most of my friends think I'm crazy. They say I have to find a real job instead of reading vet recommended dewormer for cats. I don't really care about em.
