For sealing wood, there's a big difference; epoxy is it. For laminating fiberglass not as big. Epoxy is the better glue, and doesn't shrink on curing.
Not that hard to work with, just need to totally respect the mixing ratio. If it is 2:1 by volume, you better be exact! (Adding more hardener, will mean some of it won't find a chemical partner, like on a dance floor, and will sit around inside the matrix making it weaker. That's different from polyester, where changing the amount of catalyst by a bit will mainly speed up or slow down the reaction).
