Did you get the information you needed to build new floor boards?

I joined up in October, and hadn't seen this request post.

I'd be glad to trace my floorboards and provide some measurements and photos. This forum has provided me with a lot of help and I'd like to give back!

You don't happen to know a reasonable source for the mahogany do you? I have a pattern, just can't find cheap (inexpensive) wood.

No, I don't.

If I were trying to procure wood, I would just start doing an internet search for wood sources, starting with marine places to get a baseline price for comparison. You might try calling around locally to cabinet shops and see where they get their wood. Many times a supplier who normally does wholesale only will sell a few planks, then you might have to get them resawn for thickness dimension.

I remember someone on this forum - Peter McMinn? - in Portland got some mahogany from somewhere.

Good luck.

Try this site for dimensions

Someone had posted this website awhile back.

I believe Peter got his mahogany at Cross Cut Hardwoods in Portland. I don't know if they have a web site and shipping available. Someone else mentioned the possibility of using an old Futon frame made of mahogany. It may be the correct dimensions if you can find one.

DS 1 Floor boards

Up here in the Northeast, house builders are using a cheap mahogany for their patio decks instead of pressure treated stuff. I think that on outside patio decks it would rot from underneath and I would not use it there, I recently used the new plastic decking instead. They seem to stock only a 1x4 for this use, actual, about 3/4 x3 5/8. It won't be size of original boards but may be adaptable. I had thoughts of trying it for the boat, but havn't gotten into it yet. I believe it was selling for $.50 / ft. Any way if all else fails check out local lumber yards for this stuff, and see what you make of it.

DS1 Floorboards

Our Yacht Club used the fake wood on some bumpers we have to keep boats from hitting the concrete retaining wall around the lakeshore. We installed it a few years ago, and it still looks good as new, even though it is half submerged, and sits out all year long. (We remove them with the docks from Nov - Apr., but they sit outside with the docks.) The only down side to them is they are heavier than regular wood. (We used to be able to lift them with a couple of guys, now we use the crane we lift the docks with.)
