Mast down boat cover

Postby holstein » Mon Jun 18, 2012 2:02 pm

I'd like to protect my DS-I from sun and rail while in storage on the trailer with the mast down.

Anybody have any recommendations on where I can get a cover that fits properly, and may even be used while trailering ?

Thanks

Intensity has a cover similar to what you describe: http://www.intensitysails.com/gesaforda.html

I recently bought their boom tent cover and it is working out well.

David,

Does the boom tent have a triangle of fabric in front so it keeps out rain; i.e. could it be used to sleep aboard the boat?

The boom tent is completely closed in the front. At the top, it wraps around the mast and has a tie just like a standard sail cover.

It also has three 'twist snaps' that seal it up on the forward side of the mast. The stern end is open, which is good for ventilation, but still lets some rain in.

My only frustration was that when I ordered it, the web site said that it usually ships the next business day, but it didn't ship for about a week.

Boat Cover

I've been looking at a boat cover at slosailandcanvas.com made for mast down storage. It has ties to pull up the centerline of the cover so rain runs off. You may want to check it out.
