new owner learning the boat. Here's a photo of the mast foot and the receiver in the hull. I don't have any other parts for this and I am wondering how the mast foot connects to the hull.
Sound a bout right. There should be something that restricts the fore-aft movement of the mast foot, that is, assigns it a definite position. That position defines the desired mast rake. There's no need to make a "connection" as the tension in the rigging will not let the mast "jump" out.
Airgroup - my SLI mast foot looks similar and I have two "pins" going through the track holes that line up front and back of the mast foot and they hold the mast from moving aft or forward.
