I had hoped that it being winter and all that there would be a lot of action here. 11 days and no new posts is sad. There are a lot of people reading the messages but no one posting anything.
I'm excited having a DS 2 and can't wait till spring to give it a try.
So for something for everyone to respond to. Where do you sail your DS 2 and maybe a bit about your crew.
My shakedown trip will be on Lake hauto in the Pocono Mts of PA.
Having a home at the lake , I'll have tools and what ever I need in case something needs to be repaired etc.
Then its off to Berkely Park on the barnaget nj. A ramp just NORTH of Tuckerton NJ on the great bay.
Bay point in Cedarville NJ on the Delaware bay.
and last but not least Tilghman island on the Chesapeake bay.

My CREW. Dr Dee is my crew. I have always loved sailing but when I met her I had a power boat. Recently I picked up a butterfly sailboat. she loved it, but a butterfly is tight for 2 adults , so we got the DS2.
My kids are grown, but when they were growing up, they had an aquacat and sailed on the Delaware bay while I kept watch over them from my 20 ft solcat.

Your sailing plans sound very ambitious and a lot of fun. I have sailed in Barnaget Bay, NJ. Be careful there as you are liable to get run over by a cigarette boat. Brad

I still read all the posts every day, but having not had any "new projects" on the boat to work on lately, I haven't had any questions ...

The Red Witch sits there in the back yard, just waiting for me to take her out, and we have only been out exactly ONE time in the last three months.

What, you say?!?!?!

That guy lives in Florida! He should be going out all the time, all year long!

Well kids, sometimes "life" gets in the way. Time to go out has to equal good sailing weather, and quite frankly, both of those have to equal motivation. Sometimes, even when all those things come together, it's still not enough to get me to get my arse in gear. When life is throwing you all kinds of curve balls, sometimes you have to duck instead of swing ...

But, soon, the clocks will magically move forward an hour, and suddenly there will be that perfect 2-3 hours after work, when I can hitch 'er up at 5 and be on the lake by 6, and get in my measly couple of hours of water and wind therapy ...

Well, I'm guilty of reading and no posting. As a matter of fact, never posted anything before now - so here goes.

I own a Day Sailer III. Yes I know it's a step child, but it's my step child. Had it out twice last fall before it got cold. Been working on a centerboard leak issue over the winter, seem to have that fixed.

Sail plan is to put in the lake the spring and exercise the boat and my sailing skills. This assumes there is enough water - we're in a drought here. Later in the year, we'll take it to the Pamlico River for some real sailing. Looking forward to some quite time on river with nowhere to go in particular and no particular time to be there.

Well I am new to this forum with the new to us DSII sail# 8989 named Chakita. I have mine in the backyard sitting off the trailer completing some minor cosmetic repairs and bring it back to life after sitting for who knows how long under the shadow of a tree. We will be sailing in the lower Chesapeake Bay, Hampton Roads VA area. My crew consist of my 2 boys and wife so we will be learning together on how to trim and get her ready for the sailing season. Can wait till the spring gets here.

I have a 1974 DSII, I got it and a sunfish together as a package deal. I've cleaned up the boat and replaced the running rigging. My next progects are to fix the CB leak, improve the trailer bunks, buy a boomvang, buy a air cooled outboard, and repaint the boat. Maybe a new set of sails some day and it would be nice to add a spinaker also. At the rate I'm going it should only take about ten years to get this all done.

I have yet to get the wife out on a sailboat, she's still pissed I bought them. As for the kids they're 4 & 5 years old and will have to be able to swim on there own before I take them out under sail. So for now it's brothers , sisters and inlaws that go out with me.

I sail on lakes in the midwest so it is usually no wind, or to much wind on a rare day you will get just the right wind, but I'm usually at work when that happens. This year I might get the "sailboat flue "on a couple of those days.
