I have owned a cutter rigged MacGregor Venture Newport (23ft) and a Luger 30 sloop before purchasing the DS1. Loved them all, but for ease of setup and shear sailing fun factor, the DS is by far my favorite of the 3.
It is fun to sail and very responsive to input adjustments like tiller and sail trim. It is stable most of the time but a bit scary at times in moderate puffs as she tends to heel up quickly so you need to be at the ready.
I do miss the ability to stay on board overnight but the DS compensates by offering the ability to sail into the shallows and go ashore. At the end of the day it only takes a few minutes to get her back on the trailer and ready to tow. So in a summary, the DS offers a lot fun and sailing ability in a small easily managed package. Brad
